Top tier ranking in Legal 500

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

Provenio Litigation LLP has been ranked in Tier 1 for Commercial Litigation: Liverpool in this year’s Legal 500.

In ranking the firm in Tier 1 for the third year in succession, The Legal 500 praises Provenio Litigation LLP for its “unrivalled handling” of “big ticket” commercial litigation.

Provenio’s market-leading ranking is supported by a number of individual accolades.

Founder and Managing Partner, Mark Goodwin takes his annual place in The Legal 500’s Hall of Fame (and is the only Liverpool-based solicitor ranked in this category), Hannah Catterall is named as a Next Generation Partner and Emma Charnock is recognised as a Rising Star.

Testimonials in The Legal 500 include:

‘Unrivalled experience of handling “big ticket” commercial litigation of the highest value and greatest complexity. A stand-out player outside of London and able to go “toe to toe” with the larger litigation boutiques as well as the big firm litigation departments.’

‘Mark Goodwin is an outstanding litigator who is rightly regarded as one of the most talented and experienced litigators anywhere in the country. He has great instincts, an agile legal brain coupled with commercial acumen. He is also fantastic with clients. Hannah Catterall is an impressive junior partner with a fine eye for detail and a calm and measured approach. Emma Charnock is a name to watch going forward. She brings intelligence and energy to the team.’

‘Mark Goodwin is excellent as head of the firm. Hannah Catterall is a first-rate commercial litigation partner.’

Commenting on the rankings, Mark Goodwin said: “We are delighted to take our place in The Legal 500’s top tier for the third year in succession.

“When we launched the business in 2019, our vision was to create the premier business litigation firm outside London, using a team that all formerly worked together at DLA Piper in Liverpool.

“We have successfully implemented this strategy by attracting high value instructions, breaking into new areas of litigation, growing the business through a ground-breaking £50 million litigation funding agreement and investing in the future of the firm through the launch of a new graduate solicitor apprenticeship programme.”

The Legal 500 rankings are a further indication of the market-leading reputation Provenio has established in the legal services marketplace. The firm has also been shortlisted for the Outstanding Team Award (Litigation) at the Liverpool Law Society’s Legal Awards 2022 having previously been shortlisted for Boutique Law Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards and Disputes Boutique of the Year at the Lawyer Awards.
