In one of the largest group claims in English legal history, the Court of Appeal has granted an appeal to reopen a £5 billion class action by 200,000 claimants against Anglo-Australian mining giant BHP over a dam rupture behind Brazil’s worst environmental disaster.
Three Court of Appeal judges have now granted permission for an appeal, saying they believe it has a “real prospect of success”.
