A significant reform to the structure of the High Court will see the creation of a new Business and Property Division, bringing together specialist courts within a single divisional structure.

The change will consolidate the Business and Property Courts, which currently operate across both the King's Bench Division and the Chancery Division. The new Business and Property Division will replace the Chancery Division and sit alongside the King's Bench and Family Divisions of the High Court.

The reform is intended to simplify the structure of the High Court, making it easier for court users to identify the appropriate forum for their claims while strengthening the UK's position as a leading centre for the resolution of commercial disputes.

Commenting on the reforms, Mark Goodwin, founder and managing partner at Provenio Litigation LLP, said:

"The UK's reputation as a leading centre for commercial dispute resolution is built on the quality of its courts and judges. Creating a dedicated Business and Property Division is a sensible development that will help reinforce that position while providing a clearer structure for litigation."

The new Business and Property Division is expected to be established early in the next legal year.
